“The 1200mm Spitfire is a beautiful model (except for the pilot) to look at. The scale detail is impressive. However, on grass runways that aren’t golf green smooth it is hard to get rolling. The landing gear is scale too, which means this light model has a tendency to tip over easily. In the air it is a smooth and enjoyable flyer, especially in low fly-bys!”

“I have a half-dozen flights so far and couldn’t be happier. Landings are surprisingly much easier than I would guessed with the narrow gear. It flies a very stable approach coming down with some flaps and about 20% power and just before touchdown walking the power off and letting mains touch first she does very nice and straight wheel landings with the tail touching down on rollout. Aerobatics are a joy, very stable and predictable flight characteristics, no bad habits at all. Lots of vertical, and the model seems very happy flying along at 75% power or so. I did several flights without a gyro then added the hobby eagle. It flies great without a gyro but with it is an even nicer feel. The wing is absolutely beautiful to watch inflight. I swapped out the stock 4 blade prop, with the 12x8 two blade prop and two blade spinner. It definitely seems to give it better performance and speed without needing an engine upgrade. The only aspect of this model that’s a little different from other warbirds I own is joining the two wings halves together. For this I used foamtac and then screwed the assembly onto the fuselage in order to sort of “jig” the assembly together straight. I then had to take the wing off again in order to adjust the set screw on the elevator servo arm to get the pushrod to be the appropriate length. Nothing exotic, just different. I also own the La-7 which I like very much but in comparison the decals for this model seem to be of much higher quality.”
