The paint work, finish and glass work on the fuselage is excellent ready for application of the included decals. Various antennas and exterior features are included within an enclosed bag for assembly. The RotoScale AS350 Alpine Helicopter fuselage and main mechanics are shipped fully assembled and packaged and rigidly supported within a heavy-duty cardboard box. The mechanics appears to similar to a Trex 450SE V2 helicopter with a Trex 470L fly bar less rotor head system configuration. But be prepared there are no written assembly instructions, decal application location or antenna placement locations information included with the helicopter but then this is a scale helicopter and some level of prior helicopter experience is expected. Fortunately, an internet search brings up photos of the full-scale version of the AS350 Alpine helicopter in addition to the motion RC photos and general information manual for 450 sized RotoScale helicopters. Although fully assembled it is suggest that all fasteners be check and locktite applied as required typical to all RC helicopters.

Just a follow up to my earlier review. As I said in the earlier review at the time of writing I did not have this heli up and flying. Installed a Spektrum fc6250 flight control system which came with a matching receiver. Did all the programming in both the radio and 6250 via the Forward Programming menu. Everything functioned as it was supposed to. Upon spooling up the heli wobbled and vibration was very loud sounding. Actually held it in my hand and above my head and with higher throttle level it began to shake severely. I decided there is no way I will fly it as I believe it will shake itself apart. A little disclosure, I am not an experienced helicopter guy. At present I have a Blade 230s v2 and I fly it with a Spektrum DX8G2. The Blade flys nicely and is very stable with hardly any vibration. Just my personal experience with this Rotorscale heli so you can decide for yourself, maybe your experience will be different.

I had this (notice the past tense) and installed the ZYX flight controller. ZYX controller was a challenge to configure. However, once configured it was very stable and looked amazing in flight. Over the course a several flights it developed a vibration. It took a few more flights trying to isolate the cause. I finally figured it was the front canopy so I put cushion tape between the canopy and fuselage. Just as I thought I had it worked out, I was flying it and as I turned it to fly back to me is disintegrated in mid-air. As I inspected the remains I found several screws had come loose in the frame, most notably those that hold the bearings for the main shaft. So, yes, it is an awesome looking heli and flies beautifully. MY CAUTION IS: DISASSEMBLE IT WHEN YOU UNPACK IT AND ENSURE ALL SCREWS ARE SECURED WITH LOCK-TITE WHERE APPROPRIATE AND ENSURE SCREWS ARE TIGHT ELSEWHERE. Kudos to RotoScale!

Not got it up and flying yet but there are several videos showing it in the air. Am going to us a Spektrum 6250 flight control system. The workmanship and detail is outstanding, I plan on getting the Huey and another one of these. Upon doing a lot of looking around for parts, it seems the workings of this heli are basically an Align 450. The parts seem to be almost identical and are available all over Amazon and other sources. IMO these are a steal for the money and I hope MRC will always be carrying them as I plan to buy more.

Gorgeous! The detail is amazing. You could not buy just the fuselage for the money. You also could never purchase a 450 size helicopter alone for the price. I know because I just bought an unassembled Trex so I can build one from scratch. It cost much more than the Rotor Scale already beautifully built. I almost feel as though I should keep it a secret for myself because I don’t own all of them yet.
