“This company produces very delicate 3-D wood puzzles. My son enjoys working with them. Surely, this is not for me because some of the pieces are very delicate, and you must be extra careful and meticulous in working with those small parts.”

“Puzzles are supposed to be challenging, but fun. The Ugears windmill requires extreme re-shaping, sanding beyond normal expectations, and too many other time-consuming tasks to prepare it for assembly to be fun any longer. It is as if somebody had submitted a plank of lumber for a piece of IKEA furniture with the bark still on it. (One does not expect to have to run some puzzle pieces against a belt sander to make them ready for assembly!)The project is not yet fully assembled as work must pause whenever a new problem is encountered. Sometimes the lack of precision in the laser-cut pieces is so annoying that the project goes out to the garage until no other amusements are readily available. This one (and the Ugears antique race car) have been very disappointing. I doubt that the windmill will run when all of the pieces are finally assembled since I can see that some necessary gears will not mesh as they should unless as much as a quarter-inch of wood is removed from the part that I am currently laboring over.Postscript: The windmill is completely assembled and it does not run as shown in the videos. Sometimes the control lever on the bottom is insufficient to hold the rubber band back from unwinding when the unit is wound up. Sometimes the fan blades will not start rotating once it is wound up and the control lever is released. Blades will rotate if turned by hand (but that was not the point). Very stupid design and BIG disappointment for the money.”

“Die Aufbauanleitung ist nicht immer klar zu verstehen. Schon bei den ersten Schritten habe ich mir ein Video ansehen müssen, war dann aber kein Problem mehr. Die Konstruktion ist einfach genial. Kompliment an den Designer. Leider gibt es sehr viele Reibungspunkte die die Funktion beeinträchtigen. Nach dem Zusammenbau war die Funktion eher mässig. Ich habe die Holzkette wieder ausgebaut, komplett zerlegt und mit einem Holzgleitmittel eingefettet. Auch habe ich 2 zusätzliche Gummis eingebaut. Danach war es besser. Das Rad dreht aber nur einige Sekunden. Der Zusammenbau hat aber sehr viel Spass gemacht und habe es nicht bereut. Ein Stern muss ich trotzdem abziehen da m.E. der Gummiantrieb zu schwach ist. Bitte sich nicht abschrecken lassen das Model zu kaufen, es ist auch ein schöner Dekorationsartikel.”
