“8 pound top-flight AT-6 Texan That had the old Scerbo actuated re-tracks. Was always having problems with one leg folding under on landing or taking off resulting in a prop strike and wingtip damage. Decided to try the X wave retracts being all metal and a weight rating of 8-15 pounds. Absolutely love them. Have about six flights on the re-tracks with not one issue and I like the way they deploy and retract slowly. More scale looking especially on a warbird. Anybody looking for a superior retract at a decent price with no plastic parts anywhere these are the ones to buy.”

“I bought 3 Xwave retracts for the new Motion RC OV-10 airplane. When I got the plane built, I tested the retracts, and they were difficult to get to synchronize, that is, move all up together and all down together. Finally, one system failed completely. I sent it back to Motion RC, who replaced it quickly and free of charge. Thanks Martin! I installed the new retracts, and again tested the retracts. I had a similar issue of the gear not staying synchronized. After some thought,I added a separate 6.0 volt receiver battery pack, which appears to have fixed the problem. The gear system is stout and the up locks and down locks are all metal and are strong. These appear to be very good gear but do need extra voltage when cycling. The BEC from my 4 cell power batteries didn’t handle the load.”

“I installed the FMS 1700mm P51 retracts in an equivalent size balsa P51. If the plane was anything faster than takeoff or landing speed, the retracts would not operate. Sometimes not even if the speed was low. I changed to the Xwave retracts. These retracts ALWAYS work no matter the speed. A little more expensive but it saves airplanes.”
