I had lost my dog tags a long time ago. I was elated to see the time period in which I had served and would match the tags I had received when I enlisted. I enter the service 3 months after high school. I was 17 years old and it was 1958.

Hi Philip,, Our Vietnam war era dogtag replicas are made according to the same standards used in the 1960s using an indented 'deboss' font which is indeed harder to read than the modern emboss font, but is true to the era. It should be noted that deboss tags were never designed to be read by people, rather their purpose is for transcribing the dogtag information to carbon copy medical paperwork (like an old mechanical credit card machine). Nevertheless it is possible to make them easier to read by rubbing in black shoe polish (a service which we offer), as shown here: https://www.mydogtag.com/blog/debossed-darkened-letter-dog-tags Alternatively, when placing an order we suggest choosing the modern emboss font (even when making WW2, Korea, and Vietnam era tags), if legibility is critical for you. Please contact us to arrange for embossed replacements if you prefer.

My original dog tags were issued in 1958. They have been lost. These replacements are similar. I am pleased to get them.
