Sterling Silver St Brigid's Cross PendantMade in Ireland. This Sterling Silver St Brigid pendant is very popular and an interesting pieces of jewelry.
St Brigid is the female patron saint of Ireland and her day is commemorated on the 1st February. The shape of this cross is meant to replicate the original which was made from rushes and reeds that were pulled apart rather than cut. They were hung by the door to protect the house from fire and evil. According to tradition, a new cross is made every year and the old one discarded or burnt to protect the house from fire.
This compliments the shiny 18" trace chain which we have added. The perfect length to highlight the cross on your neck.
The pendant has been made using two different textures. A 'matte' finish and 'shiny' finish. Using this technique we have managed to achieve a very old an authentic feel to imitate the original style.
We have added an 18" trace chain which is the perfect length to highlight the cross on the neckline.
Pendant measures 30mm (1.2") including bail
Beautiful drop earrings are also available to complete the set.
