“After extensive research, I bought the 10" original Nolah about 10 weeks ago. I love foam mattresses, but don't like the sink-in feeling of some, and prefer the way a firm mattress feels, however, my aging body no longer agrees with that so I was looking for something softer than a rating of 7, but not too soft. For reference, I weigh 125 lbs. and I am mostly a side sleeper. Nolah recommended the 10" over the newer 12" mattress, and the recommendation was spot-on.
The mattress is fantastic, and just what I was looking for: firm enough to not sink in (although this may depend on your weight), but soft enough to cradle any pressure points. There was no adjustment period for me. While per my sleep tracker, there has not been much change regarding sleep quality, my lower back pain has subsided to the point where I don't think about it before getting up in the morning. I also found that I now sleep on my back as well, and my rare bouts of insomnia no longer bother me because it feels so good to just lie, float, on this mattress (the first few nights I did not want to fall asleep, I just wanted to enjoy the feel of the mattress!). I do not think that the mattress sleeps hot at all.
The off-gassing was a bit worse than expected. It was quite strong the first 24 hours, so I recommend not sleeping in the same room for at least a day or two. Then, the smell started to fade, but it took another two weeks for my bedsheets to smell like bedsheets again. Let this not be a dealbreaker, though!
The mattress is partially a darker brown which is not great if you use mostly white bed sheets - the darker mattress color shows through and it kind of bothered me at first, but I fixed it by using an extra set of sheets (in addition to a mattress protector). Still, I wish it would come in a uniform light color. Then again, not a dealbreaker either.
The price was great. I caught a sale that also included two pillows. I was not looking for new pillows but I have used these new ones with the cooling technology ever since and love them. The ordering process and delivery was smooth.”
