“A faithful standby for daily gut care, which has a very pleasant taste with a hint of sweetness. It may not always be the whole answer to symptoms of bowel dysfunction, but it's definitely a step in the right direction, adding fibre and good gut bacteria to the equation.”

Would you recommend this product to family or friends? Yes

“I have taken this for some years now, and whilst scientific data now suggest it is not the answer for IBS, I find it helps me to stay regular. I like the sweet taste of it dissolved in a glass of water too. Swishing round the glass helps to dissolve it, as the makers advise, rather than using a spoon, which tends to make it clot.”

“Been taking this for a while for IBS. Evidence moves on, and probiotics are not now first line in medical advice, but as it adds good bacteria to the gut, it can do no harm and could help. This was confirmed to me after a recent updated diagnosis of bowel disease, so I will continue to take it.”

“After a few years' use, with good results, recent antibiotic treatment upset the bowel equilibrium. Have taken Optibac 3 times daily for a couple of weeks and it has settled things down again. Wish I'd known before about the Post Antibiotic product in the same range though!”

“I find this is much kinder to the gut than regular laxative products. It really has resolved the discomfort and given me a regular routine. It's easy to take, and has a pleasant sweet taste in water. And probiotics are the treatment of choice now for IBS. So glad I tried it!”

“Have tried lots of products for IBS, but this seems to keep everything quiet and functioning reasonably well. I notice the difference if I stop using it for a day or two, so will probably keep on taking it. Doesn't do any harm, unlike medical products!”

Would you recommend this product to family or friends? yes

“This drink tastes surprisingly pleasant, to say it does not contain sugar or other products unsuitable in IBS. The first sachet produced an immediate response (softer stool and stopped gut motility). However, my daily water intake may not have been enough, as symptoms returned. Now drinking a lot more water, with the desired effect. I am giving this a month's trial, but my experience so far chimes with recent findings on probiotics: worth a try, where other remedies fail!”
