“My experience with Olukai started at a Goodwill Store. Flipflops! Unbelievable comfort. Afterwards, just for the heck of it, I priced them. I made a good deal at $5 for $70 flips. BUT THEY WERE THE BEST! So a few years later I bought 2 more pair - FULL PRICE. Now I needed to replace my old Sperry deck shoes, and decided to give Olukai a chance. Well, they do look good, but while the heal is as comfortable as the flips, the sole is not. It needs to have at least the cushioning equal to the flips under the front of the feet. Also, it is a slip-on shoe THAT ALLOWS a user to also step on the back of the shoe like a slip on slipper (some people call Romeos). I would never do this, and I am wondering how tight these shoe will remain becuse of that after the one-year warrenty. Finally, there are no laces (which I knew going in), but now I wonder how loose they will get through the years. I can re-lace my Sperrys, to tighten them.
Time will tell. I you like, I will write a follow-up review in 8-10 years . . . my usual lifetime for a pair of good shoes. Paul A. Kallmeyer”
