“I love the Olukai brand and really hoped this model would work for me. First pair size 8 was too narrow, second pair 8.5 worked for my toe box but two things made me return them. For me, the liner in the shoe was too thin & pliable and stuck more to my foot than the bed of the shoe. I didn't intend to have to wear socks with these so, that wasn't great. Second is the placement and stiffness of the Olukai logo where it hit the top of the arch of my foot and where the end of the tongue of the shoe hit the top of my ankle. Probably those would have broken in over time but given the price and the "unworn" part of return policy, I gave up on these.”

“I was looking for a pair of shoes I could hike in varied terrain. I started with another popular brand and got horrific blisters on my heels. This has happened to me before, but these blisters were crazy huge. I have some travel coming up where I need a shoe I can count on. So when I found these Olukai’s I was thrilled that worst case I could drop the heels if I started to get blisters. The good news is after several wearing no blisters and no need to drop the heel. Still I know I can if I need to and my trip won’t be ruined mid-hike.”
“I purchased the Imaka Trainer to replace my Eleu Trainers that I bought in 2018.
The Eleu Trainers were the most incredible beach/water shoe I ever owned.
Olukai sadly does not make the Eleu trainer anymore. The particular construction of the Eleu trainer provided a reliable fit.....whereas, for me, the Imaka trainer design did not work for me.
The heel box for the Imaka was too shallow and even though I returned the size 8 for a size 7 1/2, my feet kept slipping out of the shoe. I tried a thin running sock and it still kept slipping at the heel.
So this redesigned Imaka trainer probably works for some but not all. I regret not getting 2 pair of the Eleu trainers in 2018. It was a superior beach/water shoe and understandably a good choice for Hawaii lifeguards.
I also regret not getting to your store on Maui when I was there August 2021. We passed the shopping center on our way to dinner and the stores were already closed.”
