“I ride a motorcycle to work in -24c weather going 80km/hr into 80km/hr winds with nothing between me and the weather. Half hour to work, 12 hours on the job, and a half hour home. My coworkers and everyone who see me must think I'm insane.
I tried a dozen expensive goretex mitts and a range of heavy duty snowmobiling gloves, but if you have poor circulation or face this kind of extreme cold there is very little to help you. If you do not have the circulation to produce heat in your hands, insulating layers do not matter. Riding my bike requires dexterity in my fingers and before getting ororo gloves I ended my rides with barely functional stubs for hands and faced a half hour of painful thawing, I risked frostbite and crashing from inability to steer/brake every day.
With an extra pair of batteries and the ability to swap and charge them while on the job, they work very well. My favourite part is that you can wear the layers separately. The insulating layer is very comfortable but soft, so instead I have layered armored, insulated motorcycle gloves on top. This allows you to wear a softer more insulated mitt for extreme dry cold, a protective work glove with fingers for dexterity, or a goretex glove for working in rain. They are very versatile and I would recommend them to anyone.”
“Warmth works Well.
Touch sensitive quit working on inner liner so I can’t use my phone with them anymore...
Wish there was more fit sizes. I have long narrow hands so they aren’t as snug as I’d like as I needed the bigger size for the finger and hand length.”
“Charged the batteries and they seem like they will be really great ~ we are having summer weather right now, so the real test will come once the snow starts to fly. Not looking forward to winter, but am looking forward to warm hands!”
