“I got this for my mother for Christmas. She's one of those "little old ladies" with little body fat to keep her warm. Think of Geraldine McEwan's Miss Marple. She grew up in the Canadian north (way north including the great freezer known as Winnepeg). But, she chills easily in the winter and has trouble getting warmed back up. I've gotten various things over the years (electric blankets for in-car use, heated foot pads, rechargeable hand warmers, big rice filled body warmers, etc.), and she lives in cashmere sweaters and little down vests during the cold season (she's retired and lived "down south"... central Indiana, lol)
Anyhoo - my dad phoned yesterday "it's urgent, your mother has a chill from doing errands and can't get warm, how do we use this thing!" I popped right over, showed them how to press the on button, and VOILA! She could feel the warmth start instantly and after about 10 minutes she was able to switch back to her favorite vest. I have a feeling this will go with her whever she leaves the house this winter. I got an extra battery so they'd have a reserve just in case.
The next week holds temperatures in the low teens (F), so I'm glad she's got a good option is she decides to venture out, or if she just goes outside to get the mail and gets chilled (regular occurance).
I'm looking forward to seeing how the battery does over time. I got myself the handwarmer "Queen City" to use when I'm out at the stable. I wear good gloves out there, but sometimes you need bare hands for tasks that require precision (or dealing with buckles and snaps), and I look forward to warming my hands up more quicky this year if the handwarmer works even half as well as the vests.”
