“I have Raynaud’s Syndrome and purchased the Ororo (open-box) Amsterdam Heated Mittens with extra B22A batteries for walking my dog in cold New England winters.
I’ve tried many heated gloves and mittens, and most either don’t last more than a couple of seasons or only heat the palm, leaving fingers cold. I’ve used these mittens in temperatures from the low teens to the low 30s. Like other heated gloves, the lowest heat setting isn’t useful. I start on high for about 10 minutes, then switch to medium to extend battery life. Even so, after a 45–60 minute walk, the battery is usually down to about 30%, which is less than advertised.
The heating itself isn’t noticeably better than cheaper heated mittens. I mainly feel warmth in my thumb, index, and middle finger. What does stand out is the quality of the materials—my hands stayed dry and well-insulated even in very windy and wet conditions.
Ororo’s customer service is excellent and promptly offered a battery exchange. Despite this, I wouldn’t purchase these mittens again, even at the open-box price. They may work well for someone without Raynaud’s, but the heating wasn’t sufficient for my needs.”
