Hi Robert, thank you for the review. The switching to lower setting is by design. When you first turn on the jacket, it goes to pre-heating stage for 5 minutes, under which maximal heating is provided so you can be ready for outdoor in a short time. After 5 minutes, the heat setting automatically goes to medium, this is where you can feel warm and comfortable for a longer period of time. The hoodies is best worn in Spring and Fall, or underneath an insulated jacket in winter, as the sweatshirt material provides less insulation than the jacket does.
