The Newman camshaft is one of the best camshafts available for the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S, increasing both bhp and torque throughout the rev range by allowing the valves to stay open longer, thus increasing the amount of air / fuel entering the cylinders. To achieve the full potential of the Newman camshaft, we recommend that the car is remapped after installation, however a remap is not always essential. Gains of around 18bhp can be expected from fitting a Newman camshaft, depending on the cam chosen and other mods on the car. Benefits of fitting a MINI Cooper or MINI Cooper S Newman camshaft include: Increased Horse Power Increased Throttle Response Up to 18bhp increase Please note this is for the camshaft only, unless the option for the ARP Camshaft Sprocket Bolt has been chosen. If the ARP Camshaft Sprocket Bolt option has been chosen, we may open the ARP packaging and pre-install the bolt in the cam to save on additional packaging. Fitted the PH1 camshaft to my Mini R50 with no issues. My Mini has better performance than with the standard camshaft, will rev strongly all the way to the redline. It idles smoothly and have covered 5000 miles with no issues.

Excellent lumpy cam that pulls hard in the upper rev range… can be a bit touchy and grumpy off idle and when cold.
