“We give abandoned and abused animals a forever home, without any outside help or donations. We have horses, donkeys, dogs and cats. By giving them a safe haven, it makes our lives better too. We were in need of another area for cats. Now that the Santa Rosa is complete, our next project will be to enclose it on all sides, including the top, with fence. “Our Retirement Project - Building the SunShed with my husband was one of our retirement projects. I assisted my husband in assembling the shed, right from sorting the package to staining. In the beginning, I was doubtful that the two of us would be able to do the whole thing. We thought we'd have to call on additional hands in putting on the shingled roof pieces up ourselves, but to our surprise, it went on smoothly. Building the shed was an enjoyable learning experience. I learned new construction terms, the level is a handy tool, and taking the time to keep corners square in construction is critical. I was very impressed with the packaging and manual. We followed the instructions step-by-step, but decided to build the flower boxes at the end. I wanted to assemble them myself and use the potting bench as my workbench. In October, with the cooler temps, the shed was a cozy place to build the flower boxes and having the natural sunlight coming through made it so enjoyable...as well as the aromatic cedar smell. The first flower box took a while, but as I got used to using the drill, with each one it got easier. The pieces went together so nicely. We're very pleased with the finished product. This experience has given me a boost in ideas for future projects in my retirement.”
