“I prefer these to the paper bags as they don’t split and we get longer use out of them.”

Paper bags are primarily designed for hygiene and convenience, as they trap dust, allergens and debris so they can be safely disposed of after each use. Some users, however, prefer to use them multiple times before replacing them, appreciating the additional filtration they provide for the vacuum.
