“I have hormonal acne which comes and goes since my mid 20s, and came back few months ago after I stopped taking birth control. The last time I had it I treated it with benzoyl (Epiduo) which ofc dried my skin so much without getting rid of the acne, and it only got better when I restarted BC. Now that it’s back, I started treating it with benzoyl the first months without success, so when I saw Phyla adv I decided to give it a try. While I didn’t like the texture of the moisturizer (too heavy, doesn’t absorb, and face sweat easily), the fact that the serum is not that strong and doesn’t dry out the skin (and bleach everything!) is one of the plus factor. I used it for 2 months and the first weeks it looked like it was getting better, then acne came back, a bit worse than before and all in all during the 2 months it has been a few ‘cycles’ of mixed results - not a progressive and steady improvement. It also looks like acne tends to get worse around my period, and then it takes 2 weeks to heal..At the 2 months mark it looks like it’s getting better, and I decided to continue with another 2 month supply to just give it a chance and to try the new formula that might give better results! All in all I would still recommend it for the fact that it’s a combined ‘package’ that has been formulated to be used together and limits the counter effects that can happen when using multiple products from different brands!”

Hi Brigitte! I am one of the Skin Health Experts on the team. We are sorry to hear your teens did not see the results they were expecting. During initial use of Phyla — especially within the first few months — it is normal to still see some breakouts. This is because Phyla is working to recalibrate the microbiome and kill the acne-causing bacteria. Our skin is on a cycle lasting about 21-28 days, meaning the skin has only gone through about one cycle in one month. This is very rarely enough time to see deep acne clear up.
