“This is the second water backup sump we have had installed in our crock. The first backup (not a Liberty) failed and was wasting water without our knowledge. The water dept informed us that there had been a large spike in water consumption for the past several months and that we needed to look into the increased usage. Turns out, the first pump was dumping water regardless of any need to pumping water out of the crock. With this unit or any other brand there is no way to know if it is working as intended without leaking in the same way.All this aside, the Village has informed me that the state of Ohio will now require the use of a device to prevent cross-connection contamination of the water supply in the event of a water supply loss and the potential backflow of groundwater through a vacuum. And so, an inexpensive vacuum-breaker will not suffice.I have this been instructed by the Village to purchase a Watts In-Line Double Check Valve Assembly at their cost of $150 or here for just over $100. The real kicker is its has to be installed by a licensed and Village approved plumber and tested annually at $225!!!Sorry, Liberty but you just aren't worth it any more. Now I have to look into the alternative, battery-backup.”
“Relatively easy to install. You need a backflow preventer but that was the was the only tough part of the install for me. The pump works very well. I've needed it once due to power loss and have tested it a couple times and have had no issues.”
“It worked for just under 3 years a now won't shut off. I'll order another one but this time I'll get the protection plan. It works great but is made of plastic and won't last more then a few years.”
