“I bought this pump to replace another water powered pump that I had, but I haven't had a chance to evaluate the pump until today because we had a huge storm and the float switch on my primary pump decided to get sticky. Compared with the old pump, well, there is no comparison. The pump is unbelievably efficient and only has to run for a few seconds to pump the water out. My old pump could barely be called a pump and the valve constantly leaked due to poor quality. The Liberty pump is so much more solidly built. I love that now I have total piece of mind and that I don't have to worry about power failures or replacing expensive batteries. I will say that the pump is on the large side and kind of awkwardly shaped so it was a bit of a challenge to get it to fit in my sump pit. Aside from fitting it in there, the installation is straightforward and easy. I'd highly recommend this product, but if you're not fairly handy you may want to consider having it professionally installed.”
“Even though this product is a back-up sump pump, the option to purchase "Expert Installation" generates an order for a "Sump Pump REPLACEMENT" which is NOT what this installation requires. The installation of a back-up sump pump requires the addition of the SJ-10 to an existing sump pump installation which, according to the installer that showed up, is considered to be a full sump pump INSTALLATION [not replacement] that ran approximately 4x plumbingsupplyandmore quoted price in my case [even though I already had a battery powered back-up installed].According to the installer, the only time the installation of the SJ-10 back-up sump pump would be considered to be a replacement installation, would be if there already was an identical [i.e. SJ-10] back-up already installed.Admittedly, the purchaser should expect to pay more than the quoted price since connection to the water main is not included, but plumbingsupplyandmore needs to be much more diligent in distinguishing between replacement and installation, and providing the appropriate installation purchase options.”
“Installed as a backup to our Liberty 257 Pump. Plumber was in the basement for around two hours to install everything with an existing outflow pipe.This pump was slow emptying the water pit... So the best this pump offers us is to buy us some time until we can hook up our generator. We don't think this pump could keep up with a strong inflow of Rainwater with the primary pump offline.Even though plumbingsupplyandmore suggests it, you do not need a check valve for this pump. It has a built-in check valve.In some ways I wish that this pump was louder so we would know it is in action. It is all all but silent in operation. Maybe an alarm that indicated it was in use.”
