“What a great find. I heard about water driven back up sumps when in Ohio last winter. If you travel a lot and you have valuables in your basement subject to an overflow of water from your sump, then this is a must. It is gravity fed from your main water line, so even when your house power shoots craps for longer than 8 hours, this will work (as compared to a battery driven back up where the battery will just run out of juice and your basement will flood). I would buy another in a New York minute. Unless you are plumber or incredibly handy, I would highly recommend a professional install due to the cut into your main water line.”
“We originally got a quote for 10x the price of this pump to install a different pump with a battery backup that would only run continuously for 8 hours. In the past, this area has lost power for days at a time and I’d rather not have my basement flood because my pump’s battery ran out of juice while I was out of town.We added this as a backup pump to our existing sump pump for some peace of mind on a recently finished basement project. This pump works as expected.The manual came with installation instructions That were easy to follow (if you are a DIYer). I was also able to get on the phone with them for any extra questions I had.My challenge was making this work for a radon setup (I have a sealed lid in my sump pit). I was able to achieve a good seal between the sump lid and the bottom of this pump by cutting a piece of an adhesive neoprene rubber sheet (also purchased at plumbingsupplyandmore) to the right size (with a large hole in the middle for the float and the suction pipe) and using it as a gasket. It took me 5 minutes to make the “gasketâ€. The whole install took me around 4 hours.I was able to test the pump by disconnecting my main pump and filling the sump pit with water, I can’t believe how quiet it is in comparison to my main pump.Overall a great buy for some peace of mind, and based on other reviews this seems to be the best water powered backup pump out there, what are you waiting for?”
“I had this same model so my installation was easy. Just had to cut a 4" pvc pipe to fit it to my existing outlet piping. Instructions on how to remove and old SharkBite fitting would have been helpful. But, overall satisfied with purchase. Prime had it to me fast, as usual.”
