“If you'd told me a couple of weeks ago that the main water shutoff to my house was toast and needed to be replaced, I'd have been bummed. If you'd told me I was going to replace it myself, I'd have said you were out of your mind. But today, in well under an hour, I cut out the old gate valve on the lateral coming into my house, and installed a new Sharkbite 3/4" slip ball valve, with no problems whatsoever. Now, I'm pretty handy around the house, but beyond pulling/setting a toilet, or swapping out a faucet set, plumbing is NOT my thing. With these new push-to-connect fittings from SharkBite though, the game has changed...”
“I have been using the slip valve and prefer this over non-slip versions. It gives me more of a leeway. If you're a homeowner, a beginner DIYer, or someone who's dealing with copper and does not want to solder, go with this one. I most recently used it for my water heater cold water inlet to add a shut-off valve, and it came in clutch. Just make sure to debut. Plumbers who complain are old school, used it wrong, and don't wanna do a repeat job, where it can leak eventually, but I've seen sweated pieces leak the night of it. If it leaks get another piece and do it right, it beats the 200-300 or higher charge of a plumber.”
“The SharkBite 3/4" slip ball value, push-to-connect, plumbing valve is fantastic to use, especially in tight, already installed plumbing pipe situations, say between beams or walls. The unique “slip” feature allows you to slide the plumbing pipe (copper, CPVC) into the slip valve and then it allows you to then slide the valve into place on the other side to make a watertight plumbing connection, all within seconds! The best of all is that you can remove, reposition, and reinstall this plumbing fitting all without dangerous soldering!”
“You cannot go wrong with Sharkbite products. I am "old school" and resisted using these on my copper pipes. Then I needed to add a water expansion tank to a 3/4 copper line. I used a Sharkbite slip fitting and it worked great. I then changed my Pressure Reducing Valve and used Sharkbite fittings on that. I'm sold !”
