“Just moved into a house and had to turn the water for the washer/dryer off and on again. This caused the very old shut off valve to start leaking around the lever. Swapping in this new part was easy and simply required unscrewing both units, prying the old one up, removing the old washers, cleaning off the metal, and tightening the new one down while keeping the new washers in place. I added a little silicone grease to the new washers as they seem to come dry. Works great and no leaking now. One thing that had caused concern was that our old part had a black lever handle and the new one has a blue one, and I wondered if this was the identical part. Seems that the handle color has simply changed over time.”
“Used the front half of this valve to replace an older Watts valve that was easily 30-40 years old. That unit had a black handle and the word Watts written diagonally on one side. This new valve is a perfect fit to the existing soldered in connection. Fantastic that Watts did not arbitrarily change the width of this over the years! If you're seeing leaks from around the screws in front, the O-rings are failing. I took the advice of other posters and applied some silicone grease to the new O-rings, prior to installation. Unsure what size the O-rings are, but maybe someone else has figured it out and will post.”
“Used this in an older home to make copper supplies lines for a washer and dryer when the lines had to be outside the wall. The combination of the new copper and this rather simple and elegant shut off valve made for an attractive solution to a less than desirable plumbing situation. Very happy with the product. Had no issues sweating the valve to the copper pipes.”
