“You must follow the instructions to remove the old cartridge and install this new one. The Moen video is good, but misses a crucial step to turn the stem 180 degrees just before installing the handle. There are other videos online that have the correct instructions.”
“This OEM replacement fixed my 7 year old, leaking shower faucet. The directions were easy to follow and fortunately the old cartridge came out fairly easily. The new cartridge comes with enough grease for installation, so there's no need to buy a separate container. The optional Danco core puller (86712) made things a little easier, but it probably wasn't absolutely necessary in my situation. It is a nice design though and would be great to have for a more stubborn cartridge.”
“This is the exact replacement for a Moen Sensi Temperature water valve that fits most one handle control models. The best recommendation I have is buy the special tool to pull it out and soak cartridge with a good penetrate to help loosen it up before attempting. Even with the tool removal can be difficult depending on how jammed up the seals get and how hard your water is too. I used a WD40 rust formula that worked pretty good to help break it loose. Without the tool you'll be struggling to get it out unless you can rig up a leverage block with a pry bar. They give you 2 small packs of slippery lube to coat the valve before installing, clean up the body with some rolled up emery cloth and water to help the valve to seat better, the bore should be prelubed as well and line up the HC at top and finish seating assembly with a deep socket and mallet over the stem, then reinstall the lock pin into vale slot. Works perfectly and very easy movement with no leaks!”
“This was the part I needed and it was a genuine part for 2/3 the cost of what I could find elsewhere. Note that mine did come with a little packet of silicone grease so you probably don't need to buy that separately. Some tips:If you go watch the moen video for this replacement, they won't mention taken the large handle face-plate off the wall. I had to do this in order to be able to put the safety clip in and out. Just cut the caulk with a utility knife and tap the seam a hammer and flat-head screwdriver to get it off.I had a really hard time pulling the old one out out with pliers, but I eventually had success after lightly tapping the stem with a hammer a few times. Pushing the old cartridge back into the wall a little helped loosen it up and I eventually pulled it out. Some other users noted the hex bit you need to get the handle off. Make sure you have the right size. I had a basic allen wrench set that didn't have the right fit, but I had luckily bought a screwdriver set off plumbingsupplyandmore a few years ago that did have it.One other note for the moen video watchers - after you put the new cartridge in, they'll say to turn it back to the off position and show a rotation to the left. I had to turn mine 180 degrees right instead. Going left inverted my handle. Not a big deal to fix afterward - just annoying.”
“I wish I had read the reviews on plumbingsupplyandmore before I bought this product a second time.1. The lifetime warranty does work and if you are the original owner Moen will replace the cartridge for you for free.2. The longer you let a finicky faucet go the tougher it will be to pull out the old one. The extractor tool will be needed and will help. The Danco extractor is cheaper and works fine.3. Note the position of the old parts (especially the brass tube) when you pull out the old cartridge and DO NOT listen to YouTube videos that tell you to invert this or that - it may not apply to your faucet and will just waste your time.”
“You know it's going to be hard to remove the old one when Moen makes a puller tool. Could not get it out without that tool. Instructions show H/C tab up but on/off was backwards first try. Tried h/C down, hot/cold reversed, same backwards water flow. So I installed H/C up again, played around with the main rod until on/off and hot/ cold worked like they were supposed to before putting the handle back on and that seemed to do the trick. plumbingsupplyandmore best deal I could find.”
