“Having decided that spraying was not the best way for me due to the proximity of plants,, patio, adjacent housing etc. (most reports say the overspray goes everywhere, even on a calm day), I bought this Ducksback waterproofer. It was put on to 14 year old fencing which had been Tanalised before erecting. Half the fencing had had a thin green proofer applied about 5 years ago. After power spray cleaning, two coats covered the previous colour. The first coat was rapidly absorbed into the wood and mainly worked into the grain with a fencing paint brush and was quite hard work. The 2nd coat was applied with a fencing roller and then over brushed to ensure all edges were covered. This coat went on much more easily and took less proofer as most of the grain had been sealed. 3 x 5ltr tins covered 8 close boarded panels, so I had to get more to finish all the fences. I chose Cuprinol Ducksback because I had used it in a previous garden and the proofing exceeded the 5 year guarantee and the colour was retained. I trust this will last a similar length of time.”
