“I bought this as a replacement for a much larger unit that was taking up too much room in my small workshop . It seemed to be getting good reviews and it was a very good price . I have never liked 'flu-core' but when I used it for this I admit I have changed my mind on that . I still prefere solid wire but this laid down a good weld with the wire that came with it ,with very little slag ! I will use solid because I prefere it ,but I would not now be put off using flux-core . The machine welds well and I like the synergic settings very much . I found the weld to be tidy and easy to control (I like the gun , it is a nice size ) I thought the cable being attached direct to the machine might be an issue ,but up to now I havn't had a problem with that . I have joined steel up to 4.5/ 5mm with no problem up to now ,but I do think it is capable of a lot thicker (layering-up ). I have used the machine on very thin material and it has been good , I reckon it would be great on car panels. I think the stick welding feature is handy to have ,I have always liked 'stick' ,so easy , and this welder starts well when starting the arc . The stinger is a good 'work-out' for you ,really good spring . The earth clamp is quite grippy too ! All-in I don't think this is a bad machine at all ,and right from the off I was laying welds as good as with my old machine that I had a lot of practice on . The wire feed is plastic but seems very strong and I do not think I am going to get much trouble with it . I have had SIP machines before and I am hoping to get the same trouble free-use out of this one as the others . Nice little machine ,better than it's price would suggest .”
