“Oh, wow. Where do I begin? I've had to wear a mouth guard for the past few years due to clenching/grinding my teeth. My dentist charges what I think is an exorbitant fee to have the guard locally made, and I decided to look around. I found ProTeethGuard, and placed my first order for a hybrid guard in October. Prior to ordering from you, my dentist insisted (yes, actually insisted) that the guard I should wear would be for the bottom teeth. I absolutely hated it. Invariably, during my sleep, my tongue would kick it out of my mouth; I'd wake up the following morning and find it somewhere in the sheets. It wasn't doing me any good if it wasn't staying in my mouth., and because it wasn't staying in my mouth, my teeth continued to shift, thus necessitating a new guard at least every couple of years. “This was my first night guard. My dentist recommended one at my latest checkup (back in pre-Covid 19 times when you could still see a dentist). My dentist pointed out that she offered them but wasn't pushy about it and she did point out that aftermarket ones were available. She only urged me to get a custom one, not one of the $20 football guards available at drug stores. After some looking around, I realized that her ~$500 price wasn't out of line...for dentists but I decided to look further. After reading lots of positive reviews (like this one!) about Pro Teeth Guard, I decided it was worth a gamble, given the price savings relative to that of my dentist. After realizing I needed to decide between soft, medium (hybrid) and hard, I decided to see if my older sister knew anything about night guards. She surprised me by telling me she had been wearing one for ~10 years. Based on her recommendation, I went with the hybrid.
So far, so good. The molding video was excellent as were helpful comments from other reviewers. As a result, I had no problem with the molding process and even returned unused mold compound. The fit of the guard that showed up was excellent meaning...I have no problem with it snapping in easily and staying in as well as no problem with pain or headaches.
My only question now pertains to when I should wear it. I wasn't aware of grinding my teeth during the day so naturally assumed I needed a night guard. Since going through this whole process, I'm much more aware of teeth grinding and realize that I do a lot more of it during the day than I realize. I haven't decided whether to simply stop grinding when I become aware (which is what I'm doing so far), whether to wear my night guard during the day or whether to order another guard specifically for day use.
Oh yeah, one more thing. The case arrived with one of the locking tangs broken off. I called Pro Teeth Guard and they sent another one immediately...prompt, polite, friendly.
