“I have been frustrated since purchasing our Thule Ascent 1800 box with our 2010 Outback as it prevents the lift gate from fully opening. Yes, I should have been more careful when buying a roof box but I'm 6'5" and finding a box that fits skis my size is not easy. Anyway, finally Yakima has come through with a solution! I just installed these landing pads on the car and now everything fits! It allows the roof bars to sit much higher above the roof of the car which provides enough clearance for the lift gate to fully open without interfering with the box. Not to mention in the future I can purchase longer bars to accommodate more gear. I'm frustrated that Subaru didn't design a factory rack with these kinds of things in mind, but so thankful that Yakima did.”
