The material that the sealing gasket is made from is not the same as the original. Feels more like some kind of vinyl, not the rubber construction of the original.

Hey Theron! Actually, both versions are made of the same material and it's silicone... You can always brew without the heat shield gasket! Either remove the lid entire, or you can pull the gasket off of the lid. It can be re-attached later.
