“I purchased the Ratio Six coffee maker despite the many reviews mentioning how awful the carafe is. After doing side-by-side comparisons with my old Moccamaster, I decided to keep the Ratio because I liked the coffee from it better. I am now second guessing that decision entirely based on the awful thermal carafe. It does not keep the coffee hot for very long. The pour spout must have been designed with absolutely NO testing. It is almost impossible to pour coffee without splashing it everywhere. Further, the lip on the carafe opening means that the only way to pour the last drops is to turn it completely upside-down. The last straw was when it started leaked black goo, clearly because the seal isn't tight and coffee gets into the wall of the carafe. Please redesign the thing completely and give us a huge discount on the new version.”
“The Ratio Six is a fantastic brewer but this carafe (more specifically the pouring spout) is unfortunately a complete failure in product design and engineering. After almost two years of 1-2 daily brews with the Six, I am still not able to consistently pour coffee from this carafe without spilling anything. The same applies to all family members and friends who ever had the pleasure to try, so I am not uniquely incapable. I had to replace my original carafe and was secretly hoping that Ratio would fix this problem after two years of customer and reviewer complaints. They did not.”
“It’s ok. Just received a replacement carafe as the first one did not keep coffee hot or pour without splattering coffee all over the place. After reaching out, Ratio was responsive with tips to try and then sending a new one.
Unfortunately, still getting the same warm results. My search for a replacement carafe or method to have hot coffee continues. It is a shame because the machine itself does make good coffee.”
“We had to request a replacement carafe, because the original one was coming loose at the handle. The company replied promptly, and sent out a replacement right away. Otherwise this is a great coffee machine and a good carafe that keeps coffee warm for a long time. It is heftier than other brands, and pours easily. We’re very happy with th quality of the Ratio 6 coffee maker. The company really stands behind their products.”
“Ratio has replaced two of these so far, in only one year, for glue failures. I'm handwashing, not soaking these, so it's poor manufacturing quality. While it's nice to have warranty coverage, it's better to have a non-leaking carafe you don't have to ever replace.”
“I love the carafe. The design and finish are beautiful. However the lid spits a bit when pouring. My last one dribbled. And the lid holds a lot of water after it’s rinsed and cleaned that is difficult to remove before making the next pot.”
“Three stars. When it works, it's great, keeps the coffee hot and the flavor fresh and aromatic. However the black finish starts coming off almost immediately, even when you exclusively handwash it, and the lid loosened enough within the first six months of owning it to where the pot leaked and I had to replace it under warranty. Maybe I got a bad one. Hope the replacement is better.”
