“I’ve been taking St. John’s Wort via drops for several months now, to try to heal an injury to a tooth. In order to avoid the dreaded root canal on this tooth, I was hoping hypericin, or St. John’s Wort, would help with the nerve damage. Although my tooth is still not 100% the way it used to be before my injury, I feel that taking those drops saved my tooth from dying immediately. I can now feel my tooth when doing the ice test, which is quite amazing considering I had a delayed feeling before.
I was hoping with the addition of taking both the drops and taking a concentrated capsule such as this one by Real Herbs, I would be able to more effectively heal my tooth and the nerve damage. I’m scheduled to return to the dentist this month to see if my tooth injury has improved and whether I can avoid the root canal!
So far, I cannot say anything about the quality or actual effectiveness of this supplement, but I can say that the capsule isn’t hard to swallow. The bottle contains 100 capsules and you can take up to 3 capsules a day. Since I’m taking the drops concurrently, I'm limiting myself to 1-2 of these a day in order to not exceed the daily dosage. Each tablet contains 500mg of St. John’s Wort (300mg extract + 200mg powder). To be honest, I’m unsure whether the ratio of extract versus powder means anything. The capsule also contains small amounts of rice flour, gelatin, vegetable magnesium stearate and silicone dioxide, so if you’re sensitive to any of those ingredients, I would suggest getting the drops.
