“Where do I start about the Kaabo Sky 8s? I have enjoyed riding the Sky 8s everyday since I have purchased the scooter, it offers so much for great price with plenty of power (800w is enough for me). Kaabo have done a great job to make the 8s feel so sporty with the responsive in its steering and so comfortable when you are just commuting around town. 5 STARS KAABO”

“Getting the scooter programmed was a nightmare. There was no user code to unlock the machine in the manual. ( why wouldn't that come written somewhere?) The manual that came with it was not for the Skywalker 8S. I searched online and found a fellow giving out the codes but it must have been an old video. It took another extensive search before we found the relevant code on a youtube video not in english. That finally worked and I'd watched enough videos to use the manual now.
Once set up, it is a basic user friendly machine to operate. Lots of speed and great disc brake on the back. No problems so far but only have about 60 m on it. For the price and given the performance it seems like a good buy. Will see what happens the first time there's a problem with it. That's when you find out if you have a good product.
Peace.”
Hi Clayton, thanks for your review. Our latest batch of Kaabo scooters with the standard display have a new code to access the settings. Previously this code was 9221, the new code is 1500. Due to the recent change there had been some issues with the manufacture providing the correct code. I will be passing on this information to them to ensure they update any manuals for the future.
The Skywalker 8S is perfect for commuters looking for extra power and range in a versatile, compact and portable electric scooter so I have no doubt you will love riding it! Enjoy!
“Pros:
Stem is fairly solid, not much play and what's there is only slight front to rear
Has plenty of power, mine was limited to 60% output from shop. Will do 40kmh when unlocked to 100% on smooth private roads.
Real range of 30km tested multiple times with 25kmh limiter in place. Could squeeze maybe another kilometer or two. 80kg rider.
Very well lit up, very visible to other users. Horn is loud. (put a piece of tape over it).
Collapses down well with the stem and handlebars fully collapsing, easier storage and fits in the boot of an i30 just fine.
Single rear disc is okay in dry conditions under 25kmh.
Solid tyres, no flats ever. Good on smooth paths and urban roads.
Cons:
Solid tyres and very basic spring suspension. Really starts to jar your ankles on sectioned walkways after a while. The tiny springs are not able to manage and have no dampening.
Solid tyres are lethal in the wet. Also they don't corner as easy as a normal tyre, but that's to be expected given the wide design.
Poor offroad. Expected with solid tyres and weak suspension. Really jarring experience. Stay on smooth surfaces.
E-brake is harsh on application, and no way to adjust. You can either have it on or off. Just ride with it off for much smoothing braking.
Like all low mount headlights, it's just there for show. A top bar mount of head mount is recommended.
Overall I like it. It's fairly solid. If I was to buy again I'd just go for the 10C version with pnuematic tyres and tyre slime to help with punctures.”
“I was unsure whether to get the Mercane Pro or the Skywalker 8S, as had read good and bad reviews on both. But when I took the Skywalker out for a test ride at Scooter Hut I immediately fell in love with it. 5 months later, I still love stepping on it and going out for a ride on it. I have noticed about a 20% drop-off in range since the battery was new, but I still get about 25 to 30km on a single charge.
The motor is really powerful and gets me up any hill, although I weigh about 65kgs. If I was heavier, I'd probably need a dual motor (Mantis or something like that).
Three of my friends have since bought Kaabo scooters on my recommendation, and they love them too.”
“This thing is really fun to ride. Accelerates well and has plenty of torque, gets up to 40kph easily if you turn off the speed limiter. Not the most comfortable ride due to the solid rubber tires but at least you don't need to worry about flats!
Do expect the range to decrease dramatically however if you're a heavier rider and your route has a lot of hills; the most I've gotten out of a full charge is 20km when it's supposedly capable of 45. Maybe I should just lose some weight? Ha ha.
It also has a very loud and extremely obnoxious sounding horn. I recommend fitting a standard bike bell unless you want to scare the bejesus out of people as you come flying up behind them.”
