“I bought the Climber over the S1 due to its ability up hills as I live in a hilly area - I was able to test and compare to the kind of hills I ride over. And now as an owner here are my real world experiences
1: Range: I ride in Dynamic mode only. This gets me up the hills at a speed I am happy with and uses a little less battery so I get better range. After several recharges from around the one bar left or less area of the battery meter, my calculations show a max range of 41km to 42km until fully flat. I do not ride to fully flat though. So I am usually recharging in the 35km-ish area, just to be sure, while still having maybe 15% min battery left. While longer range would be nicer, this still works for me so all good. And considering longer range means more batteries which increases the weight and price. Then having longer range stops it being as transportable and convenient and at a good price. I think this current balance is good. Without backpack for work or full of groceries I am 85kg. Make it 90kg with loaded everything.
2: Ride Comfort (bumps): Even though there is no suspension the bumps do not feel that bad. I think in part to the tyres but also as the front motor pulls the wheel over the bump instead of a rear only motor which pushes the wheel into a bump which causes it to bounce over the bump. As such, it also feels very stable when riding. I should note that on large bumps I will lift the front while riding to help it along, else I just bend my knees if needed and they act as additional shock absorbers and all is good.
3: Take Off: Zero start, or the ability to hit the throttle and it goes without having to manually kick it to a certain speed first, is a massive plus. Sitting facing up a hill waiting to cross a side street is no different than taking off like normal - throttle engaged and off you go. I cannot imaging the same scenario trying to manually kick the scooter to speed from a stop while also facing up a hill.
4: Acceleration and hills: The torque is great. Whether it is up a hill, or taking off from scratch with me and a backpack full of shopping, the Climber just seems to do everything with ease. Love it! I have seen people in my area walking their e-scooter up hills and others having to kick along to get it up the hill. Not so with the Climber. This thing is a beast!
5: Breaking: I have tried various percentage settings for the assisted breaking and can say the 100% setting can pull you up fast. So make sure you learn the "hip bend and butt back" technique to shift your weight back and maintain control in sharp breaking. Watch youtube for this technique. It is a must-know for all e-scooter riders when breaking in a hurry.
6: Charging time: Sorry I cannot say how long it takes from X to fully charged. I won't leave it charging unattended so if I need to sleep or whatever, I unplug it, then replug it in when I am present again. Obviously charging from 30% left is quicker than charging from 15% battery left. BUT the BMS works very well and the charger turns off once done.
7: Cruise control: I like and dislike it at the same time. When turned on in the app, after a few seconds of the same speed the cruise sets in. In theory on a flat this is good. But if you hit a rise soon after taking off and are at the speed for a few seconds, it will lock at that speed. So once the rise flattens if you do nothing you will stay at that speed. To counter this a quick blip on the throttle turns it off and allows you to accelerate again. This is also sometimes annoying on footpaths with pedestrians where I may do a few seconds of speed X but then want to slow for a few and so on. It will read the speed and lock on and thus make me do an extra step of blip or break to disengage it. In this situations it turns off and on and off and on and becomes annoying. BUT, on a long bike path or rideable road I love it.
8: Silent: This thing is super silent. The number of people who do not hear me coming is nuts. Well, I don't zoom up to them and ding ding ding get out of my way, cause that is plain rude. I wait patiently for a gap in the path and then verbally tell them I am passing them. And do so slo-o-o-owly. Just doing my part to not be a menace that gets complained about to local councils and where that leads.
Gripes: My gripes are minor.
Gripe # 1: The "lock" on the Inmotion App. When you go to lock it it sometimes says "authenticate as owner". I go to do that and then it says "already authenticated". Ok so lock. No, authenticate as owner. Around we go. In this case, close down the app and try again. And once locked, manually turn off the scooter else it will stay active connecting to the app on the phone and that will drain power.
Gripe #2: Eco mode at 6kph. While this seems ok on paper, in real world this speed is useless. You would be better walking next to the thing than trying to ride it at 6kph. 6kph is an unusable speed and thus defeats the purpose. Either the firmware needs to be updated by Inmotion to 12kph, or allow a Scooter Hut tech to change it to 12kph. So I never use it and instead leave it on Dynamic mode and watch the speedo for that footpath speed.
I know some Youtubers whine they cannot change modes on the fly, but taking a hand off the handlebars to do such a thing will jeopardise control. You will likely crash. Choose your mode before you ride and then look at the speedo to get your speeds right.
Summary: Great scooter which eats hills and has decent range and which is fun to ride.”

“I’ve had this scooter for over a month now and have just clocked over 420km in commuting to work. This scooter is a must if you live in a hilly area like I do. I can ride every hill with ease and scooter is very stable. A bit bumpy having no suspension but nothing really to worry about if riding on paved trails/roads. I weigh 90kg and with all the hills in the area for my commute (in sports mode) I get max 40km range which is pretty good. I love the occasional wheel spin when starting off in sports mode because of the power this iscooter has :)
App is a bit glitchy when unlocking the scooter (need to do it a few times before it works) so looking forward to an app update to resolve this.
I would definitely recommend this scooter”

“From the dual motors, impressive speed capabilities, and range, it's a very good mid-range scooter. The IP ratings are also very reassuring when using this scooter in any wet weather. There isn't really anything to improve upon, but if they ever release a similar scooter (with the same specs) but provide suspension, I will definitely get that one. Riding this fast scooter can get pretty bumpy without it.”
Thank you for your 5 star rating of the InMotion Commuter Climber. We agree that adding suspension to this type of scooter would be a great addition and are always looking at ways to improve. We're thankful for your feedback!
