What activity did you use the product for? Piste skiing, hiking, urban and casual. Pre a post activity insulation. Watching sports.

What weather and temperatures did you experience? -10 to +12. This jacket is bought primarily to act as an outer jacket on dry cold days in the shoulder seasons and in winter and a liner jacket underneath a shell on wet days

Are there any developments we could make? Reinforced cuffs. I wear a Garmin Fenix like a lot of endurance/outdoor people and it has been known to rub away the lining on my previous Rob down jacket and I’m concerned on the cuff here where the cuffs seem meets the liner that the same thing will happen here as the cuff rubs backwards and forwards over the edges of the watch. Similarly, the liner of the pockets could be a little more heavyweight so that keys don’t wear holes in the pockets.

How did you come across Shackleton? Social media and word-of-mouth

“I really thought about this purchase as it was a substantial upgrade from the usual mid-tier High Street, volume options. I really wanted a jacket that didn’t scream alpinist, was subtly branded but most of all was functionally brilliant at keeping me warm during the dank cold miserable winters we now have in the UK. It was always going to be a jacket that I used underneath other jackets and on its own I wanted it to have that sort of choir assurance the other in the new people would spot and give a quiet nod to, especially pitch side in Surrey when every other parent is sporting Rab, Moncler and Canada Goose. Functionally this is more than capable and speaks to a discernment that I find appealing. It’s beautifully made and I’m so pleased I tried it on in store to figure out the right snug fit. The attention to detail on the cut is just right so that there isn’t gapiness that would lead to heat loss. The fastening a toggles are all really solid. The soft fleece lining feels smooth and premium. I’m really pleased with it.”

“Slightly tight at the underarm (one or two other reviews have mentioned this) otherwise great jacket and sufficiently warm at the lowest temps if pair with a mid layer”
