“It was pretty loose to begin with but after a hand wash following the instructions it was pretty much unwearable as it totally lost it’s shape and elasticity. Bought a Belstaff beanie which was far superior in quality.”

While the cap is designed using a fine-diameter merino yarn and a 2x1 rib stitch to create a naturally softer and slightly looser fit, it certainly shouldn’t lose its shape after hand washing. What weather and temperatures did you experience? Freezing with seemingly katabatic winds.
Are there any developments we could make? Make a thicker version for non-active use eg: in a tent or around camp.

“A lightweight yet very effective watch cap. Surprisingly, never blew off my head despite really strong winds. No overheating and kept my head cool. With warm feet and a cool head, I quickly adapted to the vagaries of the Icelandic winter.”
