“We recently purchased an open-box Yamba pergola and are thrilled with it! We were looking for a structure sturdy enough to handle Canadian winters, and this one really delivers. The pergola feels solid and well-built, with thick beams and posts that give us confidence it will stand up to the elements.
Just a heads-up: assembly involves driving a *lot* of screws — 328, to be exact! The included hex key works, but it’s made of soft metal. We used our own hex keys and a drill with a hex bit, which helped a lot. If you have two drills with hex bits, it would be even better.
It took two of us just over four hours to put it together. A third person would have made a few steps easier (especially someone on the ground while two are on ladders), but two people can definitely manage.
The mesh canopy is a heavy, high-quality material that provides great shade while still allowing air and rain to pass through. We may look at upgrading to a waterproof cover in the future, but the included one is doing a great job for now. (That would be a great accessory for ShelterLogic to bring to market!)
As for the open-box condition — aside from the occasional minor scratch, everything was in excellent shape. No missing parts or issues. They also include extra screws for when you inevitably drop a couple!
Overall, we’re very happy with the pergola and are seriously considering a Sojag carport as our next ShelterLogic purchase!”
