“Many years ago, I spent a painful week hobbling through Paris museums on feet riddled with blisters because of cheap fashion crew-length socks. Ever since, I've been wearing padded black over-the-calf socks designed for work boots. They're not fashionable, but they do look like black dress socks, and they take good care of my feet. Wanting to improve my look, I ordered some Fort Belvedere socks with some trepidation. They arrived handsomely packaged in a gift box. I washed and wore one pair prior to unwrapping the others. They shrunk in the wash exactly as advertised and fit perfectly. They look fantastic (especially since I have the Gentleman's Gazette ebook to help me match them with my outfit). They do not stay up quite as well as my work boot socks, but it would be unfair to expect them to. Likewise, I don't expect them to last as long, but they're an entirely different type of product. My shoes fit a little differently with these thinner, uncushioned socks, but that is no fault of the socks. I may go down a half-size, although very few shoes are available in 12Â½. Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality and pleased with my purchase!”

“A quick walk around the block was enough to send these socks plummeting to my ankles. Even after a wash and dry the results were the same. The real nightmare is the return process. It's been a month since first trying to get a refund and I'm still waiting.”
