I was really looking forward to getting this wallet in the mail, however when I received it the quality was nothing like advertised. The part that separates money from receipts is not the beautiful leather photographed, but more like a foamy-synthetic feeling material dyed the same blue with a 1cm wide strip of real leather at the top to make it look real from a distance. That goes for basically the entire interior of the wallet. In spite of this, I still needed something to carry my money. So I decided to use it for two days. After only TWO DAYS of use, the blue is already starting to rub off the card holders and their is blue dye on the part of the wallet that is supposed to be "Burgundy" . I truly hope I was given a test model or some other mistake because what I received felt more like a $30 wallet, not a $300 wallet. Here is a link to photos I have taken of the wallet after only two days of use: https://imgur.com/gallery/56ieHcK

Dear Rex, We did have a production issue and I am sorry about that. A different leather was used unbeknownst to us. We have reproduced a new batch that looks exactly like in the pictures, with the same high-quality leather throughout. Of course, if for some other reason you do not like the wallet you can always return it.

My biggest motivation for buying this wallet was the endless supply of brown/black cowhide wallets. I wanted a more colorful leather wallet, made of a more exotic type of leather. The colors are exactly as those shown in the images, and make for a very unique color scheme. On top of that, the choice of deerskin makes the wallet even more unique. I can tell that the leather pieces used to make the wallet I received were chosen very carefully as the wallet has no visible blemishes/scars.

TLDR: I was initially disappointed with having ordered this wallet as I received it damaged, but customer service was great and rescued the day, and now I have a beautiful wallet that I am proud to own. When I first ordered my wallet, I was having second thoughts through the whole process as I had never spent more than $20 on a wallet. Just under $300 for a wallet!? I was feeling embarrassed for having purchased this. I finally received it in a beautiful green Fort Belvedere box with a magnetic lid, I unwrapped the wallet, and was initially impressed until I noticed that outside of the wallet had 3 deep scratches in the leather. My heart sank, I was already feeling embarrassed having spent so much only to receive it and it's a damaged product. I contacted The Gentleman's Gazette and they were quick to respond and process the exhchange. Andie from Customer Care was awesome through the whole process and made sure to stay with my case and provided me a single point of contact. Andie, you saved this customer experience and have made a long term fan of Fort Belvedere products. I finally received my new wallet, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Lets start with the PROs. 1. The deerskin leather is soft to the touch 2. The stitching is on point. 3. It FEELs like a premium product when you hold it. 4. The contrasting colors are beautiful to look at 5. The 10 card slots are functional 6. The two bill slots are deep. Now the Cons. 1. This wallet is large. it takes up quite a lot of space in the pocket, and it obvious that there is something large in the pocket. Carry it in a jacket pocket when possible. 2. Once cards are placed into the slots of the wallet, due to the layout, you will be looking at a wallet that is very very thick. The best description of the size that I can think of is if you were to hold up a large ice-cream sandwich and look at from the sides, that is how thick this wallet will be. Overall I am in love with this product, and recommend it. The craftsmanship is evident in every stitch and fold of the leather. I hope to enjoy this wallet for many years to come, and at some point I would like to own the other two versions of this wallet.

Reading the comments made this wallet seem too good to be true, but once it was in my hands, feeling the high quality leather, and seeing its construction up close, the comments were very accurate! It was a small adjustment moving from a minimalist wallet, but have grown used to it; especially love how it looks when I pull cards or cash from it. Great comments from those who have seen it and was worth waiting for it (about 5 months).

Waited 4 months until it was back in stock, but very glad I did. A lovely, well crafted deerskin wallet that oozes high quality & feels great in the hand. The contrasting turquoise interior is quite eye-catching. This will be the last wallet I'll ever need!

First, I have to say I'm probably not the typical Gentleman's Gazette type of customer. What I mean by that is I tend to dress more business casual for work and play, rather than wearing fine suits, expensive shoes and so on. For some reason though I have a THING for really nice watches and I like to own a really nice well made wallet. Enough of my life's story. :) I was searching a new wallet after my ten year old no name yet high quality wallet began to look just too worn out. I first scoured Amazon and was initially looking for a more minimalist type of wallet.,it had to be at least rather thin, yet be made really well, and of high quality leather. I did end up buying a couple of those types of wallets..but to use a nice word...they just kind of looked like crap after a couple days. I started to even look at wallet reviews on YouTube and that's where I bumped into the Gentleman's Gazette wallet video. I was super impressed by what seemed to be very well made wallets, plus the wallets from Fort Belvedere to my eyes were stunning in both detail, and LOOKED very well made. I particularly liked the look of the inside of the wallets having a pretty contrasting color with the outside...thought that was beautiful and unique. As luck would have it though, ALL the wallets from Fort Belvedere were out of stock..Fast forward I happened to be in a Brooks Bros store near my house. I did find a very nice looking super thin wallet there around $285 as well, oddly enough..it also has a different color leather on the inside (Green - MEH) though not as pretty as the Fort Belvedere wallets. I bought the Brooks Bros wallet...made in England they say, BUT I still found myself coming back to see if the Fort Belvedere wallets were back in stock. Book short again...finally all three models were in stock, so even though I kinda liked my Brooks bros wallet, I pulled the trigger and ordered the Burgundy/turquoise deer skin wallet as I figure you only live once...or so they say. :) So FINALLY the review. Whew! The Fort Belvedere wallet EXCEEDED my expectations on both how beautiful it is, and the apparent attention to detail in making the wallet. It just exudes quality...and my Brooks Bros wallet is now living in a drawer while my every day wallet is the Fort Belvedere Deerskin wallet. The Fort Belvedere wallet just looks and feels luxurious, it's soft, yet feels like it won't fall apart. The stitching is is very nice and PERFECT! If I had to have one semi negative thing to say, it MAY be in an effort to keep the wallet very slim/thin which I LIKE..If you put a couple credit cards BEHIND the little flaps with the cutouts for the cards..if you put the wallet in your back pocket as I do I noticed in just a day I could see the imprint of the cards coming thru on the outside of he wallet. The simple fix was put all my cards in the more than generous TEN card slots..then there is no imprint...and my wallet has returned to looking perfect again. All in all I have NEVER ever seen a wallet so well made as these Fort Belvedere wallets...even the presentation with the big green box is off the charts GREAT. I am not rich, but have owned a few VERY expensive Leica cameras. I say that cause the Fort Belvedere initial presentation reminded me of my unboxing of a $4,200 Leica Q camera...which is also both a great tool, but I'd say a luxury item too. Sorry I wrote a novel here..all I meant to say is simply, these wallets are BEYOND great...I'm super satisfied with my purchase!

I've used it everyday and received many compliments about how nice the wallet is, and no one has anything like it. I also notice that people buying 50-dollar wallets (made of compressed leather scraps) end up having to buy new ones each year, I look forward to seeing how long this lasts in comparison. So far it feels good as new. The investment is not a lot when you realise how often you put it into your pocket, and how often you take it out, and I cannot think of any complaints
