This tie is gorgeous and well crafted. I love the texture. This tie is far superior to another grenadine tie I purchased previously from another online vendor. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tie to others who are looking to upgrade their wardrobe.

I wear striped and checked shirts frequently and needed a conservative, solid-color tie for balance. A solid navy tie risks boredom, but the wonderful texture of the grenadine weave in this tie eliminates that quite nicely. Conservative and interesting at the same time; who could ask for more? I chose the untipped version, which gives it an airy, see-thorough dimension that I like. The width is perfect, in my view, and the construction is flawless. I'm 5'11", and was surprised to find that the regular length is a little to long for me. It works but only with a half Windsor knot, which comes out relatively small with this tie, although I'd still prefer a four-in-hand. I have to tie it just right, so that the ends are the same length, to keep the tip at my belt line, no doubt because I prefer high rise (by modern standards) trousers. I'll opt for the short length in the future.

Ggod Day: I Have recently purchased this navy blue grenadine tie (9 cm) after my wife had made a beautiful light blue, Italian cotton, herringbone patterned shirt for St.Valentines Day ( yes, lucky me!). I had not worn a tie from Fort Belvedere before and I don't wear ties very often, as I had in the past. A couple of observations I will note. The carriage box for the tie is beautiful (I had received socks on the past in a similar box): well constructed and excellent for storage. The fabric for the tie is excellent with a nice feel , as described in Sven"s (or someone's) general note regarding the tie. The color is somewhat muted but with depth and perfect for the tie; the grenadine pattern was intricate, well defined and beautiful. The tie length (regular for me at 5"10") was good, and the four-in-hand knot worked well with a spread collar. I like the tie hold in back, substantial. The weight of the tie is high quality and internal construction seemed quality. I bought the tipped tie model and again quality was very good. Of interest is the stitch used for the back seam of the tie: made with a Kelly green silk threat (seems substantial) and a basting stitch. The basting stitch was a surprise to my wife and I, given the remote possibility to the threat breaking and totally unraveling because of the nature of the stitch used. My Brioni ties are constructed with a slip stitch which is much more sturdy but those ties cost twice as much. I'm not necessarily making a judgement good or bad, just observation. The tie is made in Vietnam but presumed Italian woven silk, so the construction, which is very high quality, is just different. The grenadine tie story is interesting and I could see myself purchasing another of these grenadine ties. As an extra, I received a number of compliments about the tie, and shirt, when we went out to dinner on St. Valentine's Day. I fell the tie was well with the price.

Because I like patterned suits and shirts, I have, for years, worn grenadine (or shantung) ties almost exclusively. They provide textural relief that a plain silk tie does not. Two decades ago, they were very hard to find and I often had to resort to having them made. As one might imagine, I've become quite particular about these ties. Inthe last three to five years, I have seen them here and there at menswear stores. Some are fine but many are made like the knit ties (what I call socks on a string). Fort Belvedere's grenadine ties are exactly right. Highly recommend them.

I was looking for a tie that would work for business formal when needed, but not so dressy that it wouldn't work for my everyday business casual wardrobe. This tie does a nice job of striking that balance. The navy color makes it formal enough, but the grenadine texture helps it work with less formal outfits. Know that the white interlining does show through slightly at times. I feel like it adds another dimension to the tie that I appreciate, but it does break up the solid color of the tie when you are viewing it up close. My only suggestion for improvement is to make it slightly narrower. I'm a skinny guy who wears 3" lapels. The 3.5" width feels pretty wide to me. I feel like offering the tie in about 3.25" width would be a nice compromise to allow it to work well for both those of us who like 3" lapels and those who like 3.5" lapels. Overall, I am very happy with the tie and it will get a lot of use from me.
