"Two Thumbs Up, Way Up!" – Siskel & Ebert
In this seven-time Oscar®-nominated film*, things go terribly awry when small-time Minnesota car salesman Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy) hires two thugs (Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare) to kidnap his wife so he can collect the ransom from his wealthy father-in-law. Once people start dying, the very chipper and very pregnant Police Chief Marge Gunderson (Frances McDormand) takes the case. Is she up for this challenge? You betcha.
*1996: Best Picture, Actress in a Leading Role (Frances McDormand – winner), Actor in a Supporting Role (William H. Macy), Cinematography, Director, Film Editing, Original Screenplay (Joel Coen & Ethan Coen – winner)

This is my second copy of Fargo and after purchasing a number of steel book releases from Shout, I was intrigued by this one. Having owned a Blu version of this movie I was a little put off by how grainy the video was. I chalked it up to the originality of the film and perhaps the bright whites of the snow contributed to it (or perhaps it was my TV...Nope). On the other hand, having seen other releases like the John Carpenter movies from SF, I couldn't resist and gave this a whirl. Similar to the other movies the steel book is a nice addition as well as the poster that comes with it. The movie itself along with the sound was nothing short of spectacular. Clear, crisp, and worth every penny. I'm not the type of person that doubles up a lot on my movies (with the exception of DVD to BD moves), but if there is a movie I like and thought it could have been released in a better format...I am now more than willing to buy it, or buy it right the first time. If you haven't seen Fargo, well this is a must. If you own it and would like a more stellar release to not only enhance your viewing but the sound, then give this steel book a try. You will be pleased.

Had to double dip on this one with a recent scream factory sale. Poster is lovely and fits perfectly in a cheap 18x24 frame. One of my favorite steelbook designs. Feels slick and shiny and not like some of those best buy steelbooks that feel cheap if that makes sense. Oh and the movie is solid.
