"ISLAND OF TERROR has a fantastic ending which is genuinely exciting." – British Horror Films.co.uk
On a tiny island off the coast of Ireland, a new breed of terror is unleashed. In his quest to find a cure for cancer, a research scientist conducts an experiment involving mutated cells. But this attempt to benefit humanity becomes a nightmare that threatens the entire human race.
The tranquil island is suddenly rocked by the mysterious death of a local farmer. When he is found in a cave, not a trace of bone left in his body, he has been reduced to a horrible, shapeless mass. Enter eminent pathologist Dr. Brian Stanley (horror icon Peter Cushing, Brides of Dracula, The Gorgon ) and Dr. David West (Edward Judd, First Men in the Moon), a brilliant bone specialist. Working together in a desperate race against time, they must find a way to destroy the seemingly indestructible, ever multiplying horde of bone-eating creatures before the mutant monsters kill everyone on the island and spread like a deadly plague across the entire planet! This chilling horror film is directed by the talented Hammer Films veteran director Terence Fisher (Horror of Dracula, The Curse of Frankenstein, The Mummy).

Island of Terror is, in the very least, a minor horror/sci-fi classic! Peter Cushing is spendid, as is the rest of the cast.

A fun sci-fi monster movie from Britain in the 60s. Can't go wrong with Peter Cushing and Terence Fisher. This has the feel of Island of the Burning Damned more so than Quatermass and the Pit. The disc from Scream Factory is excellent. I love the reverse cover art and the commentary track. Picture and audio are top notch.

It's never looked so good. A classic "Hammer-Like" horror film right down to casting Peter Cushing as the brilliant doctor. An island that is plagued by creatures that only want to eat the islanders. This scared me as a child and it still gives you the chills. Do not miss this one. Shout Factory has given us a great classic, now better looking than ever!

Old school monster movie. Short, briskly paced and entertaining while taking the goofy premise seriously. No winking at the camera here. The effects are fun if never really scary. The acting ranges from stiff (Judd) to standard rustic bumpkin (the villager extras) to Peter Cushing. He is Peter Cushing after all and he gets all the best lines while appearing to have a ball with his part as Judd's sidekick. It's worth watching just for him. It is a straight forward little movie that knows exactly what it wants to do and sets about doing it with no muss or fuss. ADHD types who need a gory kill every five minutes won't be impressed but those who enjoy the old classics should check this one out.
