“I have recently taken up playing the violin again after many years absence. I purchased a Gliga violin from another supplier and used that for a while until I decided to purchase a better violin. I decided on the Helmut Illner Sir B model after doing a bit of research and it arrived yesterday. First thing I noticed was how well Simply for Strings packaged the violin - it was brilliant and the violin travelled from Queensland to Sydney overnight without any issues. The second thing I noticed was that the setup, done by Simply, was excellent compared to my Gliga. The bridge was a better bridge and was positioned perfectly. Finally, the playabilty of the instrument was better and that surprised me as I thought that it wouldn't be much different. I am sure that the professional setup contributed to this as the strings were evenly distanced above the fingerboard and between each other and the nut and bridge appeared to be perfectly notched. Initially I was a bit reluctant to spend a significant amount of money for a new violin but I am happy I did and also happy with the service and professionalism of Simply for Strings.”

“The Helmut Ilner SIR B is my third upgrade since I began learning a little over two years ago and I am absolutely in love with this violin. It’s my ride or die violin, no doubt about it. It makes a huge difference as a student violinist to learn and play on such a high quality instrument. The warm tones and the crisp, direct, singing trebles make this violin an absolute delight to play and the responsiveness makes vibrato a pleasure. The high quality craftsmanship, superb attention to detail in the rosewood pegs and tailpiece, and a lightly antiqued finish has produced an instrument that is a pleasure to hold in your hands and visually admire. You can see that this violin was crafted with love. All of which compels me to become a better student so I can play it the way it deserves to be played, whatever genre I’m exploring.
