“I had my first fan from smafan.com installed by an electrician, but I decided to install this one myself. It went pretty smoothly. The cover over the light did arrive damaged. To be fair, it looked like the packaging in the box was reasonably protective of the cover, but it's hard to know what kind of bumps it might have encountered in transit. I got it replaced without issue and everything looks and works great now. The remote and app setup were both a little finicky at first. But after a few minutes, I got the remote paired successfully and the app setup was easy once it auto-detected the new device. I linked it with the Google Home app, which controls the white and yellow lights separately, and the fan, including speed. Google Assistant does not seem to be able to control the fan direction or Nature Mode. For those, I still have to go to the included remote or the Carro Home App. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is what to do with the switches that used to control the old fan since the new smart fan kind of expects to be "always on." It would be cool if there was an in-wall remote that was compatible with DC-powered fans, even though it wouldn't actually do any switching in that case. I'll probably install a longer downrod eventually, but it's nice to have it high and out of the way to allow room for activities at the moment. It would be nice if the preferred downrod length was selectable at the time of purchase, rather than being a separate purchase. Overall, though, I'm happy with my purchase. A stylish and functional smart fan that doesn't break the bank.”

Regarding the switches that used to control the old fan, you're right that smart fans are typically designed to be "always on" to maintain their smart functionality. However, this DC ceiling fan can't be controlled with the switch. It can be controlled by the remote, smartphone APP and voice commands. The default length of the downrod included in the ceiling fan's package is 6". If you need a longer one, you can purchase it with the ceiling fan. Overall, it's fantastic to hear that you're happy with your purchase, and finding the fan stylish, functional, and reasonably priced. “I ordered a fan for my client because the black and gold color combination adds the glamour and drama I want for their living room. When I received the fan only a few days after ordering, I immediately opened it up. It was well-packed with no damage. The materials of the blades and the body say quality and I was especially happy with the colors. The black and gold colors both are rich and beautiful! The fan is being installed next week and I can't wait to see it in action. The affordable price, smart features, dimmable and varying colors of the LED light, quiet DC motor and good airflow make these fans an amazing buy.”
