"I ordered THREE Carro Explorer smart fans. IMPORTANT NOTES BELOW!!! I wanted Carro smart fans ever since I found the need for a better/smarter fan option. I first found Carro on Kickstarted. The price was too expensive so I waited. A couple years later circumstances changed. I ordered three 56"" Explorer fans. They look and perform excellent! Most importantly, I wanted to control them all with my voice through the Amazon Echo devices. However, things did not go as smoothly as I expected from a premium fan with a premium price. PAINPOINTS: 1) According to the instructions, these fans can ONLY be connected to 2.4gHZ wifi networks. I did not know this prior to install. I have a newer Comcast router that combines the 2.4gHZ and the 5gHZ into a single network to maximize efficiency. It took a bit of time, but I was able to connect all three fans after being told conflicting info by customer service, but ultimately got through to a rep who was able to help. 2) The ceiling in my master bedroom is a 30 degree angle. The instruction book says that if you have more than a 25 degree angle, then you will need to purchase an angle mounting kit. No such kit exists from Carro. Carro is working to make this mount a reality. Due to the unique setup/mount at the ceiling, no other angle kit on the market works, that I could find. Customer support told me I could grind down part of the ball joint in the mount to allow the fan to hang perfectly vertically, instead of at an angle. I did so and that worked great. 3) Due to the angle of the ceiling, I needed to purchase an 18"" downrod. The downrod came with the longer wire harness, but not the longer metal emergency cable which stops your fan from falling to the ground if a connection or bolt fails. My fan does not have that emergency cable as one was not supplied. It should just come with the longer downrod as a longer cable is required as soon as you get a longer downrod. On a side note, I also had scratched up fan blade in shipping. A new one was included in the box with the downrod, but I needed to supply photos of the fan blade, which was fine, just an FYI. 4. The cap that covers the wire harness and bolts that connect the ceiling fan head to the downrod should have been designed ~4MM larger. All three of my fans have this issue where the cap is so tight fitting that it does not go over the harness connection and bolts on top of the fan very well. They are all a little crooked. I was disappointed by this engineering oversight. Really is an easy change in the manufacturing process just to make it a bit bigger. 4) I have installed ~10 fans over the years in my different homes. These were the most complicated and the instructions to do so were poor. Also the remote is very cheap as it is a cream piece of plastic you would expect to get with a $40 fan from Wal-Mart. The GOOD The fans all work as intended. I love being able to change the fan speed, brightness and color temp of the lights from my phone and the remote. (Its still not able to tell the light to turn on/off yet as you have to say something like ""Alexa turn the master fans yellow/white light off"" of something like that. A bit complicated. I enjoy the breeze setting the most. I love being able to set the max breeze for a given situation, so that we are not being blasted by a level 10 breeze in the middle of the night. I love setting up schedules so that the fans/lights auto turn on or off at a specific time each day. The fans feel high quality. I'm happy with the purchase, but things could have been smoother. I would still recommend."
