This was a great and amazing cruise tour especially all that you see with the days of the tour. Our hotel, Hotel Electra Palace in Athens was great and had amazing view of the Acropolis from the 8th floor restaurant. It was great. We truly had a great time especially having our tour director, Gina Agelopoulou, who was so amazing, attentive and very hospitable. She made our trip so amazing and so memorable. Thank you Gina. I would highly recommend this cruise tour to anyone. You will truly enjoy it. I would di it again. Thank you Smartours.

This was the only Smartours trip I have taken that was disappointing. Started out with Crystal cruises placing me and another Smartours group couple, im sub standard cabins which were directly over the engine. The shaking and noise was unbelievable. Since we didn't realize this while the ship was docked, we had to change the rooms after we got back to our rooms late at night. Exhausted and still jet lagged I had to schlep all my stuff to a new cabin. Why did they place us in those rooms when there were quiet rooms available? I think Smartours customers were not respected. The food on the ship came cold and was tasteless (in my opinion), except for the moussaka. The staff was obsequious to such a degree I wondered what pressure they were under. The ship had entertainment in the evening but frankly, I was too wiped out to go to the shows. There was live music in the lounges which was nice. The Cairo tour took three hours each way by bus, riding past pebble and sand landscape and dreary nondescript highways. On the way there, the Egyptian guide gave a sales pitch to her captive audience, for personalized jewelry and tee shirts and then went on to warn us not to buy in the museum shop, ostensibly because we could do better. That was a lie, it was just because she wanted more purchases at the store she received commissions from where would visit later on to pick up the merchandise she sold on the trip. The restrooms at the old Cairo Museum did not have toilet paper (you would think they would include that in the price of a ticket). Lunch was a nice buffet at a nearby hotel with clean toilets. But it is very time consuming because there were so many groups attending, there were long lines for the food. Finally when we got to the pyramids ( a stunning sight) we had very little time there. Needed to get back on the bus in 45 minutes but the phony guide said "Isn't it amazing that you spent 2 hours here and you didn't realize it! That's because it is so big!" All in all 6 hours of travel and then rushed around like that was just too much. Our excursion to Jerusalem did not take so long on the bus - about, 1.5 hours each way, but I realized Jerusalem really needs more time too. There is so much to see and just too little time. Our restaurant meals with the group were just fair. The best of the food experience was the breakfast at the five star hotel in Athens, with a spectacular view of Athens and the acropolis. We saw many wonderful ruins and splendid scenery. Our Smartours guide who was dedicated and passionate. However, all and all I cannot recommend this tour. There are much much better tours offered here. This one just was not up to par for Smartours in my opinion.

Hi Madeleine! Thank you so much for your comments. We're disappointed to hear that this tour did not live up to the standard you expect of smarTours. We have received tons of feedback from fellow travelers on this departure who were extremely happy with the cruise so it's disheartening to hear that you did not get to enjoy the same experience. We have forwarded your feedback regarding the cabin placement to our partners on ground to discuss with the cruise operator to ensure that does not not occur to future guests. We will also mention the tour guide and look at increasing times at certain sites. Thank you for traveling with us.
