“I bought these because I had Maui Jim’s that were allowing a lot of glare inside the sunglasses. Overall, I’m still not sure if I like these more than the Maui Jims.
Here’s why:
These constantly slide off of my nose when wet. It’s not the fitment of the glasses, it’s just when my nose gets wet for any reason I have to keep pushing them up my face. That’s the last thing you want to do while fishing all day in the Everglades.
These also fogged up quite a bit while I was working hard poling the boat.
I also really don’t ever notice the transition of the polarchromic lens. I find myself squinting a lot when it’s bright out, and taking them off in order to see when it’s darker out. Makes me wish I had just gone with a lens color that does one thing well.
Maybe I don’t understand the tech, there’s really not much info on it on the Smith website or YouTube, I checked. Honestly it was really tough to find many images or reviews on these sunglasses.
Things I do like about these:
Style, finish are really beautiful on these. Looks and feels top-notch.
These are also durable (glass lens). I’ve dropped them 3 times now, no issues and were really quick to clean.
At the end of the day, I honestly would not really recommend these to your average hardworking fisherman. I like how they look, but I just don’t think the performance justifies MSRP on these. I feel like I’ve had several pairs of polarized sunglasses that were far cheaper and performed just as well. But if style is a main concern, these are definitely the ones!”
“I’ve worn smith for years and this will be the last order for me. I returned them, this is the second pair I returned. The lenses had spots in them when in direct sunlight. The part of the sunglasses that sits on your nose just slides off every time you lean your face down and almost fall off. The material on that area needs to be changed. It’s a shame smith charges such outrageous prices for such poor quality. I bought a pair of $20 flying fisherman polarized sunglasses and they are great.
Save your money.”

“I’ve worn another brand very popular with watermen and anglers for many years. Just switched to SMITH and I was so impressed I purchased my second pair (different lenses) just weeks later.”
“Good CS for sure. I bought the "Guide..." and they are good quality, but don't sit well fitted on my nose bridge, unfortunately. They move while playing beach Volleyball for example....”
