“I bought my SMITH Survey helmet in Val Thorens in France on my second last day of snowboarding. Used it once on the last day and really enjoyed the convenience of easy pulling up and down the visor vs my previous set with separate googles. But when I got home, I found that the component part connecting the visor to the helmet is broken. I am so surprised that it can be broken so easily. I live in Hong Kong and there is no authorised dealer in Hong Kong. And my next snowboarding trip is in 2 weeks time in Japan. I hope I can find a replacement part before my next trip.
Can anyone give me any advice?”
“Great Idea but I skied with this helmet on two different snow days. Could not see due to the large amount of snow that collected on the inside of the goggles. The helmet fit very well. The goggles are useless. Very poor design. I have been skiing for 59 years and I know equipment This was a waist of money.”
“Love Smith I have been using them for 30 years. Never had a problem till now. The volume around the ear is tight. Needs to be more give or flex in that area. med fit the crown but Laarge was big for the crown. Size chart said I was a Med. First shield had a major Marr on it. then the second on was good on the large.”
“The Survey Mips felt cheaply made… yes, it would get the job done. No, I would not pay almost $300 for it (maybe $100).
Paint felt cheap. Visor was pulling away from the glue. While I didn’t wear it on a mountain (I returned it), the visor would slightly “lift” just from wearing it and there were large openings on the sides for air to flow into the visor (and wind, defeating the point of the visor).
Good concept, but definitely needs improvement”
