“I’ve been using the Smith Trace MIPS helmet for all my riding — road, gravel, and XC — and after a recent crash, I can say with complete confidence that this helmet truly performs when it matters. I was riding a steep downhill when my front wheel dropped unexpectedly into a deep rain‑cut rut. The wheel stopped instantly, and I went over the bars in a hard forward dive.
My left hand took the worst of it with sprained fingers, and I ended up with scrapes on my right shoulder and forearm — but my head was completely protected. No dizziness, no headache, no fogginess. The MIPS system and shell design absorbed the impact exactly the way they’re supposed to.

“My last Smith helmet was damaged in a bad crash, the Trace MIPS is lighter and perhaps cooler, here in north Florida the heat and humidity take a toll on a rider, I have found this helmet comfortable on rides, i look forward to many miles of riding with it”

“Bought this helmet for the road - I ride Forefront 2’s and 3’s off road. Great helmet - fits my head shape. Super comfy.
My only issue is the new center cut outs in the Koroyd. As a baldy, koroyd mesh gives me good sun protection up top. I have to use sun block where the center holes are. Also seems to act as a funnel in the rain. Furry headed folks won’t notice the holes.”

“I really love this helmet -- so much that I bought one in white and one in blue. It has great airflow and a sleek design, and they go great with my new Smith MAG glasses! My only nit here is that the straps below the ears aren't adjustable (I like the edges to be underneath my ears, and they rest on my jawline instead), and that the chin strap looses frequently on rides and requires recinching often.”
