“Great fit for my oval head. I wear a size MD in the Forefront 2 and bought a sz MD Mainline and I think it fits my crown well. Its my first fullface, so I can't speak to how good it is in comparison to others, but I felt it was light, breathable, and secure.
I like that the buckle is standard-issue d rings instead of some magnetic gimmick. Just takes some practice getting used to the mechanism if you aren't familiar.
Based on the fit instructions, I installed the thickest cheek pads and smaller nape pad. I did feel that the helmet sat a bit high on my forehead because my goggle-line was just below my eyesockets, but it was snug and comfortable.
When I arrived on the mountain, my buddy said it looked like the padding was deforming and interfering with my goggle fit, pushing them up off my cheeks, because everything was a bit too tight. I went back to the medium cheek pads (installed from factory) and the googles sat where they should, even if they didn't deform to 1/3 their size like the instructions said.
I think I still have some fine tuning to do.
That said, nothing interfered with my day at the bike park. 30,000 vertical feet in mild temps and the helmet felt secure, lightweight, and had great visibility all day long.”

“Great helmet for aggressive riding. My first ride out was a 15 mile epic. I found that if you take out the cheek pads, you could gain additional ventilation and makes it easier for breathing and air flow on the long climb. Once at the top, I popped them back in and was on my way. The styling on these helmets is refined and unique to Smith. it's a good look without trying too hard. The field of view was amazing. I barely noticed the chin bar and the 3 sets of padding made it easy to get a tailored fit. The weight was fairly light for something that came close to a DH helmet. Ventilation worked great to keep a cool head. It's more common place now to wear these types of helmets. Added protection without sacrificing performance.”

“I have been trying on many different brands of full-face helmets over the past several months. Some were too bulky, some did not fit correctly, some were too heavy, and some of them I did not care for the looks. A friend had the Mainline and when I slid that helmet on my noggin, it was love at first feel! Lightweight, fits great, the padding is perfectly placed, looks AWESOME, breathable, and the safety features are top of the line. I am so happy I waited to find the perfect helmet, and I did - the Smith Mainline. Thank you Smith engineers for designing a beast of a helmet!”

“Very comfortable pad options, lots of different configurations. It sits a bit higher/tilted back than I was used to, but it’s not uncomfortable or unprotective at all, just something to get used to. Highly recommend”

“Ultra light and bomb proof construction. The Mainline is my main helmet for park days, enduro days, and days in the backcountry on some secret lines.”
