The SoundBrenner has been a mixed bag for me. The design is sleek and classy, the built-in musical tools are useful and as a smartwatch it is simple and approachabe. But there are a few limitations which has made it hard for me to completely integrate this tool. Unfortunately, the tuner is a bit jumpy and inconsistent and doesn't attach ergonomically to a lot of my instruments. I struggle to confidently tune in moderately noisy environments where one would expect a vibrational tuner to shine. The included magnet does help, but there is only one to work with, and I have some qualms about attaching strong adhesives to my acoustic instruments. The metronome is incredibly versatile, love the tap function, the subdivisions and beat accenting ability, but there is certainly a learning curve to playing with the vibrational click instead of something audible. The decibel meter is a nice function, as a sound engineer, its a nice tool to monitor noise level, but even attaching the watch to its magnetic wrist strap is often enough to trigger the 'dangerously loud' warning. I often find myself having to silence the watch's alert while playing with other people, practicing percussion, or just wearing sleeves. on the whole, I don't wear it every day, but it has proven useful in many contexts.

I knew I had to improve (a lot) my timing. I have tried several 'regular' metronome -- and just could not work with them. It got to the point where I hated using them- so stopped. Fortunately - the online course I am taking (Tony's Acoustic Challenge) did a review of it. I thought this approach of vibrations might work. I received a Soundbrenner Core for Christmas -- I LOVE IT. I wear it around my thigh and can now work on my timing! Great options when using the app! Richard - Winnipeg

It was. Gift for my musician husband and he loves it. His Apple Watch has not been off the charger since Christmas.

I have been using the Soundbrenner metronome app for just about 2 years and have loved it. The app works great, has an easy interface, and of course, connects to Soundbrenner's new smart watch. I purchased the core steel Christmas of 2021 after doing a bunch of research. I have been using it consistently for about 1 month now and will give a completely honest review. The watch is exactly what I expected it to be. The metronome function, tuner function, and other little features it contains work flawlessly. The battery life, although I have seen some people complain about the battery life, I have none. Although it rarely lasts 4 days idle like they suggest, I can easily wear it for two whole days straight and not completely drain it. Furthermore, it charges very quickly so I can plug it in, and about an hour later its good to go. The mechanism that lets the watch twist on and off the strap works well. When I first received and used it, I would always worry that it was not fully locked in and would accidentally fall off on me. There are two magnets that hold the watch on the strap as a safety measure, so there is no need to worry about it falling off. I did find that I needed to press the watch firmly down onto the strap and twist to get it to complete lock in place. The tuner function works well, almost too well. It seems to be very sensitive when I tune a guitar, but that is only my perfectionist nature. I can still feel confident that my guitar is in tune after using it though. The metronome vibrations are strong, and the flashing light from the watch is very useful as well. I will say though that the strength of the vibrations quickly diminishes if the watch is not tight to your arm(Or wherever you are wearing it). Also, I am mainly a drummer, and using the watch on my wrist is not always very effective because the vibrations can very easily get lost when your arm is moving quickly. Other than that minor detail, it is EXTREMLEY useful when playing in a band setting. I want to finally touch on the smartwatch aspect. For those who might be reading this before purchasing, know that the watch face consists of two small(ish) screens. One at the top, and one at the bottom. I personally was happy with what I got, and the fact that the entire watch face was not a screen did not bother me at all. Do not expect an apple watch or anything similar to that when buying this. The watch pulses when I receive a notification, and displays the important information on the screens. The way I see it, I purchased this watch because I wanted the musical features it provides, and the smartwatch feature is an added bonus. In summary, the features includes are minimalistic and well done. Everything performs its function, and the build quality of the watch is sturdy and heavy(I was actually surprised by its weight). If you are someone looking solely for a smartwatch, do not buy this product. Find a watch that is built first and foremost around that feature. If you are a musician though, and looking for a companion watch, this is 100% for you. Very well done Soundbrenner.

I like the product and find it quite good for keeping time and tuning so I give it 3 stars which says you get what is advertised and it works well. However I think there are some features that could be added rather easily that could take it from a good product to an outstanding product. It really isn’t a smart or terribly versatile watch outside of those core features which I think leaves a big door open for competitors. Outside the studio or practice room it tells the time, not much else, not too exciting. I think it would be a mistake for them to try to reinvent the Apple Watch however they need more features and options for the many hours when we’re not making music. Happy to offer suggestions if you guys want to reach out to me.

Just used it at gigs for the first time on Saturday. I set up the playlists on my phone app and I could feel and see the beats through two gigs. I’m the drummer but the guitarist could turn round and briefly see the beats flashing if he was starting the song not me. Kept us all together neither dragging nor racing through two gigs and a long hard day. The only thing was having to charge it up at the venue during set up for the second gig - just worried about it’s safety while we were distracted but it worked hard and needed more charge! I got the core steel It’s really stylish and it’s been great for my timing and training too! I hope they develop more functionality for it - I love it but if only it also counted my steps on a gig day….
